We need to make better use of the ones already moving.

About us

The people behind Yango.

Janaka Jayasekara

Founder, CEO & Chairman — Concept & Strategy

Yango is a revolutionary shared mobility platform built for mutual benefit. Unlike traditional taxi apps, Yango allows passengers, Yango Partners, and public transport vehicles to share trips and see available travel options within their area. Private Yango Partners can reduce up to 50% of fuel costs while commuting or running personal trips. Passengers enjoy safe, comfortable, and affordable rides with fair per-kilometer pricing. Buses and public transport can share trip availability and load passengers for free.

Harshana Makavita

Director

Supporting the Founder’s vision, I help ensure that Yango delivers a smooth, efficient, and user-friendly experience for passengers, partners, and public transport operators.

Mission

To connect commuters, private Yango Partners, and public transport vehicles in a mutual, destination-based shared mobility platform — helping everyone save fuel, reduce travel costs, and optimize trips safely and efficiently.

Vision

To build Sri Lanka’s most trusted and intelligent shared transport ecosystem — empowering passengers, private partners, and public transport to travel smarter, save resources, and create a sustainable mobility network.

Core values

Mutual Benefit

Every journey works for both sides.

Efficiency

Less waste, more value from every trip.

Safety

Verified, trusted travel for everyone.

Community

A network built on shared journeys.

Sustainability

Fewer empty seats, less fuel burned.

Why we exist

Capacity is already on the road.

A single vehicle travelling with three empty seats costs the same as one carrying four people. Yango exists to close that gap — connecting the journeys people already make with the people who need them.

That means fewer unnecessary vehicle trips, more value from existing journeys, and a simpler way to move around the country.

What guides us

  1. 01

Start with the journey that already exists

Every day, vehicles travel with unused capacity. That capacity is the opportunity.

  2. 02

    Value for both sides

Vehicle owners get something back from a trip they were making anyway. Passengers get another convenient way to travel.

  3. 03

    Control stays with people

Yango Partners decide their route, seats and who joins. Passengers decide which journey suits them.

  4. 04

    Built for Sri Lankan roads

Daily commutes, university runs and intercity trips — the journeys people already make.
